Why people choose us

Why North Shore patients choose our Glenfield physio clinic

Premier Wellness Glenfield has been the North Shore’s home for hands-on healthcare since 2012. Physio sits alongside our osteopaths, acupuncturist and massage therapists in the same building, so if your problem turns out to need a different pair of hands, you are referred across the corridor rather than out the door.

Principal physio only

You are treated by an experienced Principal Physiotherapist every time, not handed to whoever happens to be free that day.

Longer appointments

Time to assess properly, treat with hands on, and answer your questions. No fifteen-minute conveyor belt.

ACC without the GP visit

We lodge new ACC claims at your first appointment. CareWay covers knee, shoulder and lower back injuries.

Western Medicine Acupuncture

Trigger-point dry needling alongside manual therapy and rehab — never used as a stand-alone fix.

A multidisciplinary clinic

Internal referral to our OCNZ-registered osteopaths, acupuncture, Level 7 qualified massage therapists and functional medicine when that is what you actually need.

Early starts, late finishes

Monday to Friday, with 7am starts and appointments through to 7pm — so physiotherapy fits around work instead of competing with it.

Your first visit

Your first physiotherapy appointment at Glenfield

No mystery, no sales pitch. Here is exactly how a first appointment runs.

  1. We listen first

A proper history — what happened, what makes it worse, and what you actually need to get back to doing.

  2. Hands-on assessment

Movement testing and palpation to find the cause, which is often not where the pain is.

  3. Treatment on day one

Manual therapy, and dry needling where it helps. You are treated at the first appointment, not just assessed.

  4. A plan you will follow

Specific rehab that fits your week, plus an honest estimate of how many visits this should take.

What we treat

Conditions our physiotherapy team treats

Everything below is treated at our Glenfield clinic, with ACC cover where it applies. Tap any condition to read how we approach it.

From fresh sports injuries and ACC claims through to long-standing pain that has never quite settled. We also run a dedicated sports physio service.

Rehab that fits your week

Physiotherapy rehab that fits around your week

There is no point prescribing forty minutes of daily rehab to someone with a job, a commute and a school run. We build a programme around what your week realistically allows, then progress it as you improve.

You will know what each exercise is for, how it should feel, and what to do if it flares. If something is not working, tell us and we will change it — that is what the follow-up appointments are for.

ACC physio Glenfield and CareWay cover explained

Not sure who to see?

Physio or osteopathy — which is right?

Physiotherapy and osteopathy overlap more than most clinics admit. Both are ACC registered, both are hands-on, and plenty of problems respond well to either. Physio leans towards structured rehabilitation; osteopathy takes a broader look at how your whole structure is loading.

Because we have both under one roof, nobody has to defend their corner. If your physio thinks an osteopath would get you further, they will say so and walk you down the corridor.

Common questions

Physio North Shore — your questions answered

Anything else? Call us on 09 444 3231 — happy to help.

Do I need a GP referral to see a physio on the North Shore?
No. You can book directly, including for ACC injuries. We lodge new ACC claims at your first appointment, so there is no GP visit to arrange and no waiting on paperwork before you are treated.
Is physio at Glenfield covered by ACC?
Yes. We are ACC registered and a CareWay provider. For knee, shoulder and lower back injuries, CareWay treatment is often fully funded. Any surcharge is listed on our prices page.
What is CareWay, and do I qualify?
CareWay is an ACC-funded pathway for knee, shoulder and lower back injuries, whether or not they happened at work. As a registered CareWay provider we can get you faster access to treatment and imaging, often fully covered. Call 09 444 3231 and we will tell you honestly whether you are likely to qualify.
What is the difference between physio and osteopathy?
Both are ACC-registered manual therapies. Physiotherapy leans more on structured rehabilitation and exercise prescription; osteopathy takes a broader whole-body view of how your structure contributes to the problem. Many conditions respond well to either. At Glenfield you can see both under one roof, and we will tell you which is the better starting point for you.
Do your physios do dry needling?
Yes. Our physiotherapists are trained in Western Medicine Acupuncture, commonly called dry needling — fine needles into trigger points to release tight muscle. It is used alongside hands-on treatment and rehab, never on its own.
Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?
No, and the distinction matters. Dry needling is a Western technique aimed at muscular trigger points, performed by physiotherapists. Traditional acupuncture — Chinese, Japanese or Korean — is a complete system of medicine practised by our registered acupuncturists. Both use fine needles; the reasoning behind them is entirely different.
How many sessions will I need?
Most straightforward injuries settle within three to six physiotherapy visits. Long-standing problems take longer. You will get an honest estimate at your first appointment, and if physio is not helping we will say so and suggest what might.
What are your opening hours at Glenfield?
We are open six days a week. Monday to Thursday 7:00am to 7:00pm, Friday 7:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm (Saturdays are massage only, so physio runs Monday to Friday). The early mornings and evening physiotherapy appointments are the ones people want most, so they book out first.
Where exactly are you, and is there parking?
Unit 2, 1 View Road, Glenfield, Auckland 0627, with free on-site parking and wheelchair access. We are a few minutes from SH1 and central to Birkenhead, Northcote, Takapuna, Albany and the Bays.
What else is available at the Glenfield clinic?
Osteopathy, acupuncture, massage therapy and functional medicine, all in the same building. If your physio thinks another discipline would get you further, the referral happens internally — no second waiting list.
