A single urine sample that reveals how well your cells are producing energy, how your gut bacteria and yeast are behaving, and whether key nutrients and neurotransmitter pathways are running short — giving your practitioner a detailed metabolic picture.
The Organic Acids Test (OAT) is a urine test that measures the by-products of cellular metabolism — organic acids produced as your cells break down fats, carbohydrates and proteins for energy.
When these pathways aren't running smoothly, it can show up as fatigue, brain fog, low mood, or digestive symptoms that don't have an obvious cause. OAT gives your practitioner objective markers across mitochondrial energy production, neurotransmitter metabolism, B-vitamin status, and gut bacterial/yeast balance — rather than guessing at what's driving those symptoms.
OAT is processed through NutriPath, an accredited integrative pathology laboratory, and is included as part of our Toxin & Heavy Metal Testing and Adrenal Testing panels — see below for which one to book.
OAT groups its markers into a few key areas of cellular and metabolic function.
Markers of how efficiently your cells are converting food into usable energy.
Metabolites reflecting dopamine, serotonin and related neurotransmitter pathways, linked to mood and focus.
Functional markers of B-vitamin sufficiency, which underpin energy production and detoxification.
By-products of gut bacteria and yeast overgrowth that can point to digestive or systemic symptoms.
Markers of oxidative stress (cell damage from free radicals) and how well your liver and cellular detoxification pathways are keeping up — a key piece of the picture for ongoing fatigue or unresolved symptoms.
The NutriPath Organic Acids Test can be booked on its own, combined with an environmental toxin screen, or as part of a broader panel — five ways in total, depending on what else you want checked at the same time.
| Test | Also Includes | Best If You Also Want | Sample Report |
|---|---|---|---|
| Organic Acids Metabolomic Mapping (standalone) | Just the OAT panel — microbial overgrowth and yeast/fungal metabolites, mitochondrial energy markers, neurotransmitter metabolism, amino acid and B-vitamin status, detoxification/glutathione function, and oxidative damage markers. | A focused, stand-alone look at cellular energy, gut and detox function — without the broader toxin or hormone data the bundled panels add. | 📋 View |
| Organic Acid, Metabolic & Environmental Pollutant Panel | The OAT panel above, plus a dedicated environmental exposures marker group — giving a read on chemical/toxin exposure alongside your cellular energy, gut and detox picture, without the full metals/mycotoxin screen of MOE-Tox. | A middle-ground option between the standalone OAT and the full MOE-Tox toxin screen — broader than OAT alone, lighter than MOE-Tox. | 📋 View |
| EndoMAP | The full EndoMAP hormone pathway panel — cortisol rhythm, HPA axis function, oestrogen and progesterone metabolites and glucocorticoids — plus environmental toxin and heavy metal markers. Organic acids markers are included here as a smaller supporting panel, not the full standalone OAT profile. | A complete adrenal and hormone picture, with a partial organic acids component included as one part of a bigger hormone-focused test. | 📋 View |
| MOE-Tox | The full OAT panel plus a complete environmental toxin screen — five groups of mould-derived mycotoxins, a full toxic metals check (lead, mercury, arsenic and more), and everyday chemical exposure markers (pesticides, PFAS, phthalates, parabens). | To know whether mould, heavy metals or household chemicals could be contributing to your symptoms, alongside a full picture of your cellular energy, gut and detox function. | 📋 View |
| Nutri-STAT + Fasting Insulin | The full OAT panel plus a comprehensive metabolic and nutritional baseline — advanced cardiovascular/lipid markers, liver function, thyroid function and antibodies, key hormones, essential fatty acids, a full plasma amino acid profile, and a toxic metals screen. | The most complete one-off health and nutritional baseline available — useful if you want the full picture across multiple body systems, not just organic acids. | 📋 View |
