About Gwen

Whole-person care rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Before moving to New Zealand, Gwen was an English teacher and yoga instructor in Korea. Studying Chinese medicine had been a long-held dream, and her fascination with its philosophy is still ongoing. She trained at the New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, earning a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) and a Diploma of Chinese Herbal Medicine, and has been practising as an acupuncturist since graduating in 2019.

Gwen's approach is rooted in the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine and supported by evidence-based research. Having gone through sports injuries herself, she has a deep understanding of the physical and emotional challenges pain can bring β€” which is part of why she loves helping people, whether with injury recovery or managing long-term health issues.

She has a particular interest in women's health: as a mother of two, she relates closely to the frustrations and changes that come with menstruation, menopause and signs of ageing. Gwen's techniques include acupuncture (TCM style, Korean style, scalp, facial and micro/nano needles), moxibustion, cupping, gua sha and electro-stimulation.

"I had shoulder pain for a long time, probably from my painting job. I tried physio and chiropractic, but the pain just wouldn't go away. Then I went to see Gwen for acupuncture, and it made such a big difference! Honestly, her treatment has been the best so far."
