Tonia Peachey is an Auckland osteopath and Institute of Functional Medicine Trained practitioner at Premier Wellness, treating patients at Glenfield, North Shore and Orewa, Hibiscus Coast clinics, and via telehealth across New Zealand. Master of Osteopathy & Functional Medicine Practitioner
Helping people with complex chronic conditions that conventional medicine hasn't resolved — through osteopathy, functional medicine, and personalised whole-person care.
Tonia Peachey is the Principal Osteopath and co-director of Premier Wellness. With over 15 years of experience, she has worked with a significant number of people living with long-term chronic pain and complex medical conditions — conditions that often fall outside the scope of conventional acute-care medicine.
"These patients don't have to just live with it. There is almost always more that can be done."
Tonia's clinical approach combines hands-on osteopathic treatment with Functional Medicine — a systems-biology framework that investigates the root causes of illness rather than managing symptoms. She looks at the interactions between injuries, genetics, lifestyle, gut health, hormones, and environmental factors to build a complete picture of each patient's health.
Treatment plans are genuinely personalised. Alongside manual therapy, Tonia develops detailed lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, stress management, and exercise prescriptions tailored to each individual — guiding them toward measurable, lasting improvement.
Hands-on diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction, pain, and restricted movement using gentle, targeted techniques.
In-depth history taking, advanced testing, and root-cause analysis for chronic, complex, and systemic conditions.
Integrated protocols covering nutrition, supplements, sleep, stress, and exercise — reviewed and refined over time.
Available online for Functional Medicine consultations to anyone in New Zealand — not just Auckland.

Before retraining as an osteopath, Tonia built an extensive career in sport and performance. As a teenager she represented New Zealand in water polo and held multiple national swimming records — an athletic background that gave her a deep, practical understanding of the human body under load.
Her professional career took her from New Zealand to Hong Kong, where she served as National Development Director for New Zealand Water Polo and Senior Sport Development Officer at the Hong Kong Football Club. She also worked internationally as a Rehabilitation Personal Trainer before returning to study osteopathy at Unitec.
After years in clinical practice, Tonia encountered a consistent pattern: patients with complex, long-standing conditions who weren't getting lasting answers from conventional care. This drove her to complete Functional Medicine training through the Institute for Functional Medicine — adding a root-cause, whole-person investigative framework to her osteopathic practice.
Outside the clinic, Tonia stays active through kayaking, mountain biking, and hiking with her partner Kurt and their dog Jasper.
Tonia asked in-depth questions and got my whole history — she wanted to know everything, and I could tell she was looking for links between all my symptoms, something no one else had ever done. Through her help I changed my diet and addressed supplements I was badly lacking in. Tonia not only treated my symptoms, but looked further to find the underlying causes — no doctor has ever done this for me — and then supported each aspect of my health to bring me back into balance and wellbeing. It has turned my life around.
Thank you so much for all your help — I'm so grateful to be feeling well and normal again after so long!
I was a mess when I first went to see Tonia. What a blessing it was to find the best from the start! After a few weeks, it was glaringly obvious how the quality of my life had improved. Thank you for always going the extra mile.
Every profession has qualified people in it, but not every qualified professional is great at their profession. I absolutely believe Tonia not only has fantastic combined qualifications — she also has genuine natural talent. Clearly this is beyond what training and qualifications can offer.
After being in a car accident, my body was an absolute mess — a bundle of complex injuries no one knew how to untangle. Tonia didn't hesitate to take on the challenge. She met me with empathy, practicality, and a real understanding of what mattered most to me, including getting back to the things I love like Pilates. Her treatment has been nothing short of remarkable. Just last week, with her intuitive approach, she unlocked movement in my toes that had been stuck for months — I got to show her a plank I hadn't been able to do in ages, a moment I genuinely didn't think I'd get back. What sets Tonia apart is how deeply she listens. Every session feels collaborative, supportive, and tailored to what my body and mind need. Her blend of osteopathy, functional medicine, and holistic care has made a profound difference to my overall wellbeing. And as an unexpected bonus: since starting treatment with her, I haven't had a single migraine. Tonia is, without question, the most amazing practitioner I've ever met.

Tonia treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, joint pain, and pregnancy-related pain. She also uses osteopathy as part of a broader functional medicine approach for complex chronic conditions such as autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, and hormonal imbalances.
Osteopathy is a hands-on manual therapy that treats the musculoskeletal system. Functional medicine is a whole-person, root-cause investigative approach that looks at how genetics, lifestyle, gut health, hormones, and environment interact to cause chronic illness. Tonia is one of very few practitioners in Auckland trained in both — which means she can treat your body manually while also investigating and addressing the underlying drivers of long-term health problems.
Yes. Tonia is an ACC Registered Practitioner of Osteopathy. If you have an ACC claim for an injury, you may be eligible for subsidised treatment. Contact the clinic on 09 444 3231 to discuss your situation before booking.
Yes. Tonia offers virtual Functional Medicine consultations via telehealth for patients anywhere in New Zealand. Telehealth is ideal for initial health reviews, follow-up appointments, and ongoing management of chronic conditions where hands-on treatment isn't required at every session.
Your first appointment is a comprehensive intake. Tonia will take a full health history — including past injuries, medical conditions, lifestyle, diet, sleep, and stress — and conduct a physical assessment. She is looking for connections between all your symptoms, not just treating each one in isolation. You will leave with a clear understanding of her findings and an initial treatment plan.
