I have a firm belief that massage has a place in everyone’s lives. I advocate for a holistic approach to health, whether that means working alongside other practitioners or creating health programmes that best suit the client. I am particularly invested in the support massage therapy can provide for chronic or longer-term health issues. Alongside this, I also welcome clients seeking support for more immediate or everyday concerns.
I combine a variety of massage styles and techniques to create a truly unique and therapeutic experience, including:
Swedish
Remedial
Hot Stone
Myofascial Release
Sports Massage
Pregnancy
Cupping
Every session begins with a warm introduction, where I take the time to understand how you’re feeling that day and what has brought you in. For first-time clients, this process is more in-depth, exploring aspects of your lifestyle that may be contributing to your concerns. While this may slightly reduce hands-on time, it ensures a more focused and effective treatment.
Once we’ve discussed your needs, I’ll leave the room so you can get comfortable and settled on the table. When I return, I’ll check in on your comfort and room temperature before starting. We’ll establish the right pressure within the first few minutes and adjust it as we work through different areas. I follow a consistent approach for each muscle group, warming the area with Swedish techniques before working deeper where needed.
At the end of your session, I allow time for you to get dressed and re-ground, followed by a brief debrief to discuss how the treatment felt and any recommendations moving forward.
I bring many years of hands-on experience in massage therapy. After completing my Diploma in Wellness and Relaxation Massage at Otago Polytechnic, I began practicing massage while continuing my studies. Following my Bachelor of Applied Science, I continued working in the field, finding that practical experience is just as valuable as formal education. I greatly value learning from the knowledge and experience of my peers and look forward to continuing this at Premier Wellness. My approach combines expertise with a fresh, modern perspective on self-care.
Massage training:
Outside of work, I have a strong passion for cooking, moving my body, and the outdoors – all of which closely align with my approach to health and wellbeing. Food fuels us every day, and when I make cooking an enjoyable and stimulating process, that care is reflected in both the taste of my food and the benefit I get from it. When it comes to movement, I adore football, a love likely influenced by my Dutch heritage. My connection to the outdoors is rooted in my Māori whakapapa, and I feel privileged to be closer to my iwi and marae in Northland. I believe it’s important to practise what I encourage in my clients and to live in a way that supports the values I bring into my work.
